Bell in Canada

Bell Textron Canada Ltd.

Canada's Helicopter Company

Bell sold its first helicopter into Canada in 1945, a Bell 47 to Lundberg-Ryan Air Exploration. To better serve the growing market, Textron established its Canadian footprint with a new Supply Centre in 1969, followed by Bell’s further expansion with Supply Centres in Ottawa and Calgary in the 1970s.

In 1983, Canada’s government selected Bell to establish the helicopter industry in Canada. In 1986, Bell Textron Canada opened the doors of its Commercial Centre of Excellence in Mirabel, Quebec – home to a fully integrated design, manufacturing and delivery operation in service to the global helicopter market.

This fleet comprises 85 militarized, multi-role Bell 412 CF helicopters used for a variety of missions across Canada and deployed abroad in support of NATO/UN and other operations.
